The article about the Hotel Petit Ermitage in Hollywood comes from my archive and appeared in this or a modified form in various print and online magazines.
Located in the heart of West Hollywood in Los Angeles, just a stone's throw from the Sunset Strip and just a few minutes' drive from Rodeo Drive and Universal Studios, the Petit Ermitage Hotel is a cozy sanctuary with that rare feeling of a second home.
With its warm colors, delicate textures and pure quality that captivate your senses as soon as you enter, the Petit Ermitage is the perfect antithesis to the cold and austere modern designer establishments and the ubiquitous faceless five-star hotels.
The Petit Ermitage exudes a casual sense of formality with its lavish classic-modern decor, seamlessly blending elegance and intimacy, allowing you to instantly relax and enjoy the finer things in life.

Whether you just want to relax with a good book in a pleasant and quiet environment or with a spa treatment in your suite - all your wishes are fulfilled here. Owner Stefan Ashkenazy has described the hotel as "unconventional" and his staff make you feel like the guest of honor in this house.
The old saying "the devil is in the details" applies to every detail of this hotel. Even the website is beautifully designed, with the appropriate classical violin music putting you in a calm mood as you take your first look at what awaits you here.

Stefan Ashkenazy explains: “My dream was to create a place that elevates my guests to another level and guides them through their five senses: Sight (warm, exotic, vibrant colors, hand-crafted Venetian plaster, genuine antiques and museum-quality art), Hearing (the music or even the splashing of the fountains), Smell (our signature scent, flowers and herbs), Touch (textiles, fabrics, tiles and flooring, linen, towels, the feel of woven carpet or milled wood underfoot, salt water on the skin) and Taste (fresh, worldly, exotic cuisine).”
The exquisite dishes are created by the hotel's head chef, Joseph Antonishek, winner of a James Beard Foundation Award. Whether you want to dine in your suite or in the Private Rooftop Club, his kitchen prepares exotic dishes for you, with a focus on Mediterranean flavors, with fresh herbs, vegetables and fruit from the club's own garden.

With stunning 360-degree views of Los Angeles, the Private Rooftop Club is a magical space recognized by the National Wildlife Federation as a home to butterflies and hummingbirds. Stefan Ashkenazy designed every single space in this hotel himself, from the suites to the Private Rooftop Club.
"When the five senses are properly guided, we can help awaken the more tender, sensual, artistic and loving side in each of our guests while they are with us," he says. "And hopefully that will continue for a while after they have left our embrace."

The atmosphere of the Petit Ermitage touches everyone who stays here and, not surprisingly, many who have visited this little corner of paradise on earth have vowed to return. Those who do return do so in the knowledge that the Petit Ermitage is not just a hotel, but a way of life...
