Psychological help for exhausted YouTubers

YouTube Germany has announced that it will pay more attention to the mental health of its German-speaking content producers.

Germany boss Andreas Briese (54) tells “Stern”: “The world has become more complicated. Today there are YouTube Shorts, Twitch, Snapchat, TikTok, long-form, mid-form, short-form videos, podcasts, live. A creator has to think about how to navigate through it all.”

Content creators receive a website with wellbeing tips, videos and burnout courses, and psychological coaches if needed.

Recently, more and more YouTubers have come forward to complain about overload and burnout, like Joey from “Joey's World,” who closed his channel in January 2022 because he felt “completely empty,” as he revealed to “Stern.”

In some cases, cyberbullying occurred, as in the case of Rainer Winkler, known as “Dragon Lord,” who was vilified, insulted and physically harassed at his home for years.

In the 15 years since the launch of the German-language version, personalities such as Rezo, Fynn Kliemann, Shirin David and Bianca “Bibi” Claßen as well as bands such as Annen May Kantereit and Milky Chance have become very well known.
