Elegant and uncomplicated – why the combustion engine is more than a relic

Today, cars are more software than steel, and the on-board computer addresses you informally. In comparison, the classic combustion engine seems almost touchingly down-to-earth.

But anyone who knows it knows: This vehicle concept is not from yesterday – it is from forever.

While modern electric cars welcome you with five apps, eight displays and three charging plans, with combustion engines, all you need is a turn of the key.

Ignition on, engine running, off we go. No waiting. Just drive the way it was once intended – direct and honest.

For over a hundred years, combustion engines have carried people, goods, and stories across continents. From the first road trip to the daily commute: the combustion engine has been there.

And even in 2025, it shows that character doesn't have to be silent. Anyone who has ever felt the deep rumble of an eight-cylinder engine knows: This isn't just a means of transport, it's emotion on four wheels.

Added to that is a certain style. While many electric cars visually resemble refrigerators or microwaves with LED strips, where you also sit on a rolling lithium battery, combustion engines often come with a long hood, a distinctive grille, and real chrome.

A car that shows itself – and was not just quickly designed and somehow optimized. No wonder that Used cars in general suddenly enjoy cult status and massively increase in value.

Whether as a sports car, convertible, sedan or classic: The internal combustion engine represents an era in which the journey was still part of the destination – not just the distance between two electrical outlets.

Perhaps one day, politically motivated, it will become less common. But it will certainly not be forgotten.

Because some things stay with us not only because they are useful, but because they remind us of what driving once was: freedom with easy operation and a soundtrack…
