In autumn – road contact and visibility are particularly important

In autumn - road contact and visibility are particularly important now

The Autumn presents special challenges for drivers. Drizzle and fog limit visibility.

Wet leaves or “farmer’s black ice” – the mud left by agricultural vehicles on country roads – can make roads almost as slippery as snow and ice.

Good visibility, optimal contact with the road and perfect car parts are now essential to travel safely.

The wiper blades: small rubber, big effect

Heat and UV radiation from the summer sun damage the wiper blades, as does scrubbing over dry windows, dirt or the remains of insects.

If streaks or marks appear in the autumn drizzle, the sensitive rubber lip, which is cut to fractions of a millimeter, has already been damaged and the wiper blades should be replaced immediately.

Experts from the German automotive industry recommend replacing them annually.

Lighting: Active and passive safety

In the dark and rain, and especially in fog, intact and perfectly adjusted lighting is an important safety factor - for the driver himself, but also for other road users.

Incorrectly adjusted headlights can dazzle oncoming traffic and lead to dangerous situations. Defective rear or rear fog lights make the vehicle less visible to other road users.

As part of the light test in October or during a vehicle check, the specialist workshop can check whether all light elements are working and adjust the settings.

The tires: Arrange a replacement date in good time

By October at the latest, the Summer tires versus winter tires be replaced because they provide more grip on the road at low temperatures.

When changing tires, the workshop can check the condition of the winter tires: Is the remaining tread still at least three millimeters?

Are the tires undamaged? Perfect condition is particularly important in autumn and winter on roads with wet, frosty or icy surfaces.
